Job summary

Goodfellow Bros Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer Intern to join the Portland, OR team for Summer 2027. Under supervision, you will apply academic knowledge to real-world construction tasks and learn daily from project engineers, managers, and estimators.

The internship involves assisting with layout, form design, change orders, plan checking, quality and safety monitoring, and data preparation for invoices and cost reports, with potential travel and a valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering at an accredited university.
• Legal right to work in the US without sponsorship.
• Willingness to travel.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager/Engineers/Estimators with construction duties under supervision.
• Assist in tracking work hour utilization and productivity.
• Maintain up-to-date file of material suppliers, labor laws, equipment rates, and subcontractors.
• May coordinate material deliveries and subcontract work according to schedule.
• Prepare cost breakdowns and assist with invoices and monthly reports.
• Attend subcontractor and other construction meetings.
• Review timecards and communicate discrepancies to payroll.

PositionSummary

AsanEngineeringIntern,youhavetheopportunitytoapplyyouracademicknowledgeandtraininginareal-worldsetting.UndersupervisionofaProjectEngineer,ProjectManagerorEstimator,youwillbeassistingwithconstruction-relateddutiesincludinglayout,formdesign,andsubcontractmonitoring.Youwillalsobeassistinginchangeorderpreparations,planchecking,documentcontrol,qualitycontrolandsafetymonitoring.ThisexperiencewillhelpyoutolearnwhataGBIprojectengineerdoesonadailybasis.

• Preparedataformonthlyinvoices,forcedaccountsheets,payestimates,monthlyincreases,back-charges,ifapplicable,andsubmitstoProjectEngineerand/orProjectManagerinatimelymanner.
• Assurethatdetailsandsubmittalsarereceived,submittedandprocessed.Supervisesubmittalofcontroldata
• PreparespecialreportsasrequestedbyProjectEngineerand/orProjectManager
• Reviewtimecardsdailyandcommunicateanydiscrepanciestothepayrollclerk
• Answerthephonesandperformsotherclericalwork(suchasscreeningtelephonecalls,takingaccuratemessages,faxing,copyingandfiling).

CompensationandBenefits

• 12-weekpaidinternshipswithpayrangeof$22to$25hourly.

RequiredEducation,Experience,andTechnicalKnowledge
