Job summary

Helix Electric Inc. is offering an internship program for a Project Engineer to assist the Project Manager on projects and serve as the liaison between field and office.

The role aims to define objectives by planning, executing and finalizing projects within schedule and budget. The internship includes a hands-on mentorship program, exposure to multiple project types, construction phases, and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in CM/EE/CE/AE or related field.
• Previous construction or internship experience preferred.
• Highly motivated with initiative.
• Basic math skills to calculate and analyze data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to work well with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with project managers, subcontractors, engineers, and vendors.
• Collaborate with the superintendent to track material and coordinate with vendors.
• Promote Helix safety culture and monitor jobsite safety.
• Engage in Change Order process and assist with estimating in Accubid.
• Analyze subcontract agreements to understand scope and pricing.
• Assist with material and equipment procurement.
• Coordinate with BIM department on planning and coordination.
• Produce and maintain detailed job logs (transmittals, submittals, RFIs).
• Monitor quality control and assist in delivering project milestones.
• Help manage labor schedules with superintendents and PMs.
• Create and order prefabricated assemblies for on-time delivery.
• Walk jobsites to learn trade and improve company performance.

Education

Bachelor's degree program in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field
