Job summary

Helix Electric Inc. is offering an internship for a Project Engineer who will assist the Project Manager on projects and serve as the liaison between the field and the office.

You will define project objectives, plan, execute, and finalize projects within schedule and budget while gaining hands-on experience in a top electrical contracting firm. As an intern, you will work with the University Relations Team to ensure a well-rounded experience across various project types, phases of construction,

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical/Civil/Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
• Previous construction or internship experience preferred.
• Highly motivated with initiative.
• Basic math skills for data analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to work well with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with project managers, subcontractors, engineers, and vendors.
• Collaborate with superintendent to track material and coordinate with vendors.
• Champion Helix safety culture and promote on-site safety.
• Engage in change order processes and assist with estimating using Accubid.
• Analyze subcontract agreements to understand scope and pricing.
• Assist with material and equipment procurement.
• Coordinate with BIM department on planning and coordination.
• Produce and maintain detailed job logs, transmittals, submittals, and RFIs.
• Monitor quality control activities.
• Help manage labor schedules with superintendents and project managers.
• Create and order prefabricated assemblies for planning and on-time delivery.
• Learn the trade thoroughly to improve company performance.
