Job summary

City of Alexandria seeks an Engineer/Planner to manage CIP/IRR projects, review vendor contracts, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery. The role requires coordinating with engineers, consultants and internal teams to meet regulatory and safety standards.

You will develop permitting plans, supervise site inspections, and contribute to development reviews while promoting sustainability and resilience in municipal projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, sanitary, environmental, mechanical or chemical engineering preferred.
• Five years of progressively responsible engineering experience in wastewater design/construction/operation desired.
• PE license preferred or ability to obtain within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned portfolio of CIP/IRR projects to meet schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
• Draft, negotiate and review vendor agreements and contracts with Purchasing or staff.
• Oversee contracts for engineering consultants and construction, including task orders or invoices.
• Prepare and coordinate design plans, specifications, cost estimates and technical submittals with consultants and team members.
