Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Engineer I in Tucson, AZ to coordinate field operations, review plans, and support a broad project team. You will manage submittals, inspections, and documentation while mentoring field staff and ensuring safety and schedule adherence.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least two years of construction experience. Base pay ranges with location-based adjustments; Visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management.
• Minimum of two years related construction experience.
• Detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively manage multiple tasks.
• Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
• Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skills.
• Current driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons.
• Implement the pre-construction quality plan and track quality metrics.
• Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring expenses.
• Develop and maintain Material Tracking List and related logs (Test, Inspection, Concrete Placement).
• Manage, create, and distribute contract documents; coordinate electronic posting (RFIs, correspondence).
• Incorporate processes for project closeout and post-construction reviews.
• Manage testing and inspection processes for construction quality management; implement three-phase inspection system.
