Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Project Engineer to oversee the review, analysis, management, and resolution of field coordination issues with project team members and participants. This position offers opportunities at levels 1 and 2, with compensation determined by experience and location.

Responsibilities include interpreting project plans for subcontractors, managing permits, maintaining logs, handling RFIs/submittals/Change Orders, and ensuring schedule alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple project tasks.
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.
• Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project, and relevant web applications.
• Ability to interpret Mortenson policies and communicate them clearly.
• Active listening and effective communication, open to diverse input.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons.
• Implement pre-construction quality plan and manage construction permits.
• Develop and maintain material tracking lists and inspection logs.
• Manage, create, and distribute contract documents, including RFIs and correspondence.
• Oversee testing and inspection processes with a three-phase system.
• Manage submittals, ensuring timely processing and schedule alignment.
• Coordinate subcontractor details, including insurance verification and final payments.
• Develop RFIs and Change Orders, update as-built documents.
• Build relationships across diverse backgrounds and levels.
• Lead team members with coaching, feedback, and performance management.
