Job summary

French & Parrello Associates seeks a Project Engineer for the Highway & Traffic Department in Wall or Newark, NJ. You will design highway plans, manage budgets, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams from design through construction.

The role requires 4–8 years of roadway design experience and a NJ PE license, with proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation. Opportunity to lead project delivery and client coordination in a growing firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 4–8 years of progressive highway/roadway design experience.
• Professional Engineer license in New Jersey required.
• Experience on county or municipal projects, including state or federally funded.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and oversee roadway and highway design plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Perform geometric design, grading, drainage coordination, and maintenance of traffic plans.
• Coordinate with internal disciplines including civil/site, traffic, structural, environmental, and utility teams.
• Assist in managing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Serve as a technical resource for junior engineers and designers.
• Attend client meetings and coordinate with public agencies including state agencies, counties, and municipalities.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal design standards and procedures.
• Support proposal preparation and business development efforts as needed.
