Job summary

Sun Recruiting, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer for a heavy civil highway and bridge contractor in the Tampa Bay area. The role supports the Project Manager and Superintendent, maintains the project schedule in Primavera P6, tracks quantities and costs, and coordinates subcontractors and field crews.

The ideal candidate has 5–8 years in civil construction, a B.S. in Civil Engineering, and proficiency with Primavera P6, Excel, and Word.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in civil construction (office and field).
• Experience managing multiple activities on heavy civil work.
• B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management preferred.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, Excel and Word.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• FDOT project experience a plus.
• Based in the Tampa Bay area or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Review contract and specifications in their entirety.
• Support the Project Manager and Superintendent on day-to-day needs.
• Prepare and update the project schedule in Primavera P6.
• Track quantities, project costs and forecasting.
• Get pricing from subcontractors and vendors, including change orders.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and crews to resolve field conflicts.
• Support monthly billing, cash flow projections and change order processing.
• Run document control for submittals, contract documents and record drawings.
• Review HeavyJob daily reports for accuracy.
• Keep NPDES permits, SWPPP, inspections, survey staking and joint measurements on track.
