Job summary

Austin Commercial in Houston, TX is seeking a Project Engineer to join our on-site team. This role supports the project management group, coordinating with subcontractors, tracking submittals, schedules, and cost data to help deliver high‑quality commercial construction projects.

Ideal candidates hold a B.S. in construction management or engineering, have internship experience, and are eligible to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Internship experience with a construction company preferred.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training required (may obtain within first year).
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States; Austin Commercial cannot sponsor.

Responsibilities

• Notifies subcontractors of start dates and expedites deliveries to avoid delays.
• Prepares quantity take-offs during proposed changes.
• Oversees submittal schedule and logs; coordinates with subcontractors, architects and superintendents; expedites submittals when necessary.
• Prepares reports: material logs, submittal logs, RFIs, drawings and long-lead items logs.
• Verifies monthly subcontractor payment requests.
• Locates suppliers and reviews invoices for quantity, quality and price of materials.
• Responds to RFIs from owners and subs; routes information to field team.
• Compiles close-out documents including as-builts and warranties.
• Assists in estimating with detailed cost estimates; may help with value engineering.
• Participates in jobsite safety as outlined in company Safety & Health Manual.
• Other duties as assigned
