Job description

Position Summary:

The Project Engineer will be responsible for designing multiple projects, leading other design professionals within their discipline, and collaborating with internal and external design disciplines to develop engineering solutions for PEC’s clients. This role involves delivering design outputs for various projects while maintaining PEC’s standards of excellence. The position requires proficiency in BIM/CAD software, hand calculations, and computer-based calculations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure project completion aligns with quality assurance policies, standards, and specifications.
  2. Prepare and review engineering plans and drawings.
  3. Assist in developing project proposals, cost estimates, and feasibility studies.
  4. Perform and oversee engineering design, coordinate with other design staff for construction documents and specifications, ensuring compliance with building codes, and participate in construction administration and report/study development.
  5. Advise the Project Manager on potential project risks promptly.
  6. Conduct design computations manually and with software tools.
  7. Utilize experience, education, and judgment to make informed decisions, building on past experiences to handle increasing project complexity.
  8. Manage multiple projects and tasks, ensuring timely completion according to PEC standards, and supervise delegated tasks to other engineers and support staff.
  9. Communicate effectively with the Design Team to facilitate project completion.
  10. Perform quality control reviews at key milestones.
  11. Mentor, train, and develop less experienced staff.
  12. Participate in business development by maintaining client relationships.
  13. Perform additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in engineering documentation.
  • Familiarity with local regulations, permitting, and design standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to determine project requirements, scope, budgets, and review contracts.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Experience with industry-standard CAD and modeling software.
  • Understanding of codes, regulations, plans interpretation, and discipline-specific components.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. Degree in a relevant field from an accredited college.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of engineering experience.

License and Certification:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in the practice location is required.

Work Environment:
