Garver's Transportation Design Center, an integrated team specializing in delivering bridge and structural projects, is seeking a Bridge Engineer in our North Kansas City, Missouri office. This position will collaborate with our in-house engineers, designers, and technicians to provide technical expertise for successful project delivery and quality design.
This Bridge Engineer will perform a range of design tasks, from basic to complex, under senior supervision and mentorship. Responsibilities include designing bridge components, detailing for plan production, calculating quantities, preparing reports, and conducting site inspections.
Responsibilities
- Design and load rating of simple and/or continuous span prestressed bridges
- Design and load rating of simple and/or continuous span steel bridges
- Design of retaining walls and sign support structures
- Bridge repair and rehabilitation design
- Bridge inspection
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Design and detailing experience or coursework in prestressed concrete, reinforced concrete, and structural steel
Preferred Skills
- Master's degree in civil engineering with structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited program
- Familiarity with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications
- Experience in planning and designing bridges
- Knowledge of MoDOT EPG and design preferences
- Experience with MicroStation, structural analysis, and design software
