Job Description

DPR Construction is seeking a project engineer with 2+ years of commercial construction experience. The project engineer will work on commercial projects within our core markets: healthcare, higher education, advanced technology, life sciences, and commercial. The project engineer will collaborate closely with all members of the project team and will be responsible for the following:

  1. Participation and application of DPR’s Environmental Health and Safety Plan to maintain injury-free environments, including weekly safety audits.
  2. Understanding and enforcement of contracts between DPR and subcontractors, as well as DPR and the owner.
  3. Assist the superintendent and project manager in implementing DPR policies and executing the project.
  4. Organize duties of other engineers, field office coordinator, project accountant, and other project staff, providing direction, prioritization, and performance feedback.
  5. Participate in training sessions and company meetings to promote individual and company growth.
  6. Organize and electronically archive project files for easy access by the project team.
  7. Prepare, monitor, and update project schedules, working with the superintendent to minimize schedule constraints.
  8. Maintain and implement various document control entities such as daily reports, procurement logs, submittal logs, as-builts, testing and inspection logs, RFI logs, and change order logs.
  9. Distribute new drawings, changes, approved submittals, RFI responses, and other project information to all affected parties.
  10. Identify, assemble, negotiate, and distribute change orders to the owner and subcontractors.
  11. Prepare agendas, documents, meeting minutes, and actions for various meetings including owner/architect/contractor meetings, subcontractor coordination, safety, and staff meetings.
  12. Participate in project cost control, maintaining records and working with subcontractors to ensure proper payment for changes.
  13. Prepare owner billing by assembling DPR costs, reviewing subcontractor invoices, and organizing documents per owner requirements.
  14. Monitor testing, inspection records, safety logs, building permit inspections, and sign-offs.
Qualifications

We seek a flexible, detail-oriented team player capable of managing multiple tasks, producing quality work, and meeting deadlines consistently. The ideal candidate will possess:

  1. Organized work approach with adaptability to support current project needs.
  2. In-depth knowledge of assigned project scopes with a hands-on approach.
  3. A proactive attitude towards resolving construction problems and conflicts during design and construction phases.
  4. Goal-oriented mindset to promptly coordinate and resolve project issues, including interfacing with designers, engineers, and owners.
  5. Excellent listening and communication skills.
  6. Ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
  7. Effective team participation skills.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (CMiC, Prolog or similar), scheduling software (Primavera or similar), and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks or similar).
  9. 2+ years of experience as a project engineer, preferably within DPR’s core markets.
  10. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
  11. A strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a passion for construction.
  12. This position is salaried.
