Job description

REMOTE POSITION

*BS Degree in Engineering is required (preferably mechanical). This role is ideal for a junior to mid-career professional.

The individual will possess knowledge and experience helping project managers build and manage scopes of work required in a United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Recurring Maintenance and Minor Repair (RMMR) contract. The Project Engineer reports to the Deputy Program Manager and is responsible for the overall technical acceptability of all maintenance and repair performed under the contract. Responsibilities include developing or reviewing technical scopes of work, processing project packages within required timelines, coordinating with clients, contractors, site personnel, and project teams, supporting project schedules, and participating in project team meetings.

Responsibilities:

• Support or develop technical scopes of work for repair and modification tasks for DoD fuel facilities and ancillary systems as part of the USACE RMMR program, in accordance with UFC standards, API standards, and safety manuals. Work may include evaluation of means and methods of execution.
• Review repair specifications of equipment or components to ensure compliance with contractual and material specifications.
• Provide early notification of non-compliant repair or maintenance tasks, as directed by regulations.
• Offer technical expertise for high-visibility/emergent issues involving service orders and fuel system repairs.
• Support development of cost estimates, logistics, and construction schedules.
• Coordinate field execution with project managers, USACE personnel, and quality evaluators.
• Conduct project close-out, audit submittals, and verify subcontractor invoices to ensure contract compliance.
• Collaborate with safety managers to develop work plans for high-risk service orders, utilizing EM-385 guidance.
• Maintain the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for all service orders and support process improvements.
• Attend project meetings, ensuring accurate status updates.
• Assist in preparing proposals, reports, and maintaining client relationships to promote future business.
• Ensure quality standards are met through regular review of work products.
• Update and maintain knowledge related to training and responsibilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Experience:

• Minimum of three years engineering experience with petroleum fuel systems.
• Experience with USACE projects is preferred.
• Contract support experience is preferred.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical, from an accredited college.
• EIT certification or PE license is preferred.

Skills:

• Proficient in MS Office tools and software like QuickBase, eMaint, MaintainX, Timberland, or similar.

Abilities:

• Ability to interpret government contract language and work independently.
• Strong problem-solving skills and time management.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Adaptability to dynamic situations and conflict resolution skills.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to work at a desk, talk, hear, reach, lift 25 pounds, and have suitable vision.

Work Environment:

Office setting with field visits potentially requiring safety gear and exposure to outdoor conditions.

Travel Requirements:

• Occasional travel to domestic locations and secure facilities, with valid driver's license and potential security clearances.
