The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Data Center Construction Operations Team. This leadership role is central to the successful execution of complex, large-scale data center projects. You will serve as the key technical authority on-site, providing strategic oversight and coordination across design interpretation, construction methodologies, and engineering processes. Your responsibilities will include guiding construction planning, driving resolution of design and field challenges, and ensuring delivery excellence across all engineering-related scopes.
This is an opportunity for a seasoned engineering professional with deep experience in mission-critical data center builds to drive quality, performance, and efficiency throughout the construction lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all on-site engineering activities, ensuring alignment with contract specifications, project milestones, and corporate standards.
- Lead constructability reviews and provide expert guidance on design interpretation, value engineering, and field issue resolution.
- Develop and implement robust engineering control procedures using tools such as Prolog or equivalent construction management software.
- Review and manage RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings for accuracy, constructability, and timeliness.
Team & Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the senior engineering liaison among client representatives, architects/engineers (A/Es), general contractors, and internal departments.
- Manage and mentor project engineers and other technical staff; provide direction on technical problem-solving and quality assurance.
- Oversee subcontractor coordination and work package integration to maintain sequencing, quality, and schedule adherence.
- Identify and mitigate technical and execution risks early in the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, safety protocols, and client-specific standards.
- Represent the company in project management and technical meetings, providing authoritative input on engineering decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related Engineering discipline; PE license or PMP certification is a strong plus.
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressive construction engineering experience, with at least 5 years in data center construction from a General Contractor (GC) perspective.
- Demonstrated success managing technical scopes on multi-million-dollar mission-critical projects, including managing budgets, resolving conflicts, and coordinating across trades.
- Deep understanding of construction sequencing, MEP systems integration, and power distribution systems.
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and commissioning processes in the data center sector.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving capabilities and a proactive leadership style.
- Expertise in Prolog, Bluebeam, Navisworks, and BIM coordination platforms.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven track record of delivering high-stakes projects under tight schedules and evolving scopes.
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation with performance-based incentives.
- Long-term project opportunities across the U.S. in high-demand infrastructure markets.
- The opportunity to work with industry leaders on some of the most advanced data centers in the world.
Screening Criteria
Must-Haves:
- Proven record of managing teams and engineering functions on large-scale construction projects.
- Clear and stable work history with demonstrated tenure and leadership growth.
- Willingness to travel long-term to project sites across the U.S.
Nice-to-Haves:
- PE license or equivalent credentials.
- Experience on hyperscale data centers or tech campus projects.
