Job summary

Michael Page is partnering with a $100M+ Design-Build contractor in Indianapolis to hire a Project Engineer. This role offers cradle-to-grave project experience, working closely with senior leadership to move commercial builds from preconstruction through turnover.

You will own critical project controls, support estimating and takeoffs, coordinate with owners and subs, and develop the hands-on experience needed to progress into a PM role and lead your own projects over time.

Qualifications

  • 1-5 years of GC experience with exposure to commercial construction.
  • Strong understanding of construction administration, document control, and project coordination.
  • Experience managing submittals, project documentation, and tracking logs.
  • Comfortable supporting PMs with change orders, subcontractor coordination, invoicing, and job cost reviews.
  • Exposure to preconstruction, estimating, takeoffs, and quantity calculations.
  • Experience supporting punch, closeout, and final turnover.

Responsibilities

  • Get cradle-to-grave exposure from preconstruction and buyout through field execution and final turnover.
  • Work directly alongside the SPM and Superintendent, gaining hands-on experience running commercial projects.
  • Own key project controls including RFIs, submittals, change orders, tracking, and closeout.
  • Support estimating, takeoffs, bid packages, subcontractor leveling, and buyout.
  • Get into the field and drive QA/QC, inspections, testing, punch, and pre-installation coordination.
  • Coordinate directly with owners, subcontractors, PMs, and field teams to keep scope, schedule, and quality moving.
  • Build the field + project management experience needed to progress into a PM role and ultimately run your own work.

Profile
The Successful Project Engineer:
