Job summary

LHH is seeking a Project Engineer to join its Engineering team in Elmhurst, IL. This onsite role focuses on close-to-floor manufacturing work, tackling technical challenges, launching new products, and driving process improvements.

The candidate should have 2–5 years in product engineering within a metal component environment, with GD&T knowledge and Lean Six Sigma experience preferred. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of product engineering experience in a metal component manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to read and analyze technical prints.
• GD&T knowledge preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma experience preferred; Green Belt is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support new product development and manufacturing engineering initiatives
• Analyze blueprints, specifications, and product/process requirements
• Develop internal drawings, processing methods, and engineering requirements
• Partner with tooling, operations, quality, sourcing, and outside vendors
• Develop process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, and control plans
• Analyze production data and identify continuous improvement opportunities
• Utilize Lean methods including value stream mapping and cycle-time evaluation
• Support equipment selection and implementation
• Help improve manufacturing cost, lead time, efficiency, and process consistency

I’m partnering with a well-established manufacturer seeking a Project Engineer to join its Engineering team.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being close to the manufacturing floor, working through technical challenges, launching new products, and finding ways to make processes better, faster, and more efficient.

What you'll be doing:

• Support new product development and manufacturing engineering initiatives
• Analyze blueprints, specifications, and product/process requirements
• Develop internal drawings, processing methods, and engineering requirements

What we’re looking for:

• Ability to read and analyze technical prints
• GD&T knowledge preferred
• Lean Six Sigma experience preferred; Green Belt is a plus
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Work Schedule: Onsite

Compensation: $100-130k base
