Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to support production floor activities and drive process improvements in a fast-paced facility in Frederick, MD.

You will collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers and Operations to implement changes, optimize workflows, and sustain safe, efficient manufacturing processes. A hands-on candidate with strong mechanical skills and teamwork will thrive in this role.

Qualifications

• Associates degree preferred; HS diploma with relevant experience also considered.
• Hands-on manufacturing experience on the production floor.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and follow technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist Engineers with implementing and improving processes, tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
• Conduct time studies, workflow evaluations, and process audits for efficiency gains.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, process docs, and SOPs.
• Troubleshoot equipment and production process issues to minimize downtime.
• Support validation, testing, and implementation of new equipment and changes.
• Collect and analyze production data to identify trends and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to resolve issues.
• Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Assist with tooling setup, calibration, and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
• Support Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement projects.

Job description

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports manufacturing operations by assisting with process improvement initiatives, equipment setup, troubleshooting, quality enhancement, and production efficiency projects. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineers and Operations teams, this position helps implement engineering changes, optimize production workflows, and ensure safe, efficient manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate has hands-on manufacturing experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively on the production floor in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Manufacturing Engineers with implementing and improving manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
• Conduct time studies, workflow evaluations, and process audits to identify opportunities for efficiency gains.
• Assist in developing and maintaining work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and production process issues to minimize downtime.
• Support validation, testing, and implementation of new equipment and process changes.
• Collect and analyze production data to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
• Work with Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to resolve operational challenges.
• Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
• Assist with tooling setup, equipment calibration, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company manufacturing standards.
• Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement projects.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or related technical field preferred.
• High school diploma/GED with equivalent manufacturing experience considered.
• 2+ years of manufacturing, production, engineering technician, maintenance technician, or process technician experience.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial production environment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing data collection systems.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other CAD software.
• Experience supporting automated equipment, assembly operations, machining, fabrication, or process manufacturing.
• Knowledge of quality systems and root cause analysis techniques.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
