Job summary

Simmers Crane Design and Services, part of Flatiron Crane, is seeking a Project Engineer to plan, coordinate, and execute engineering projects from concept to completion. You will apply mechanical design knowledge and perform stress analyses while interfacing with clients and the sales team to deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and have experience with Creo or equivalent tools; FEA knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or pursuing it.
• Knowledge of Creo or similar parametric modelling and FEA software.
• Strong technical knowledge and MS Office proficiency.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Pro-active, punctual, reliable with good problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute engineering projects from concept to completion.
• Understand engineering concepts, machine design, and stress analysis calculations.
• Detail systems, layouts, and repair procedures; collect data with measuring tools.
• Coordinate with sales to propose work and manage projects end-to-end.
• Direct and supervise subcontractors and technicians to complete projects.
• Prepare material orders, maintain deadlines and budgets, and ensure safety policies.

Position Description

Job Summary:

The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering projects from concept through completion. This role involves technical design, project management, team coordination, and client interaction to ensure timely delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Have a fundamental understanding of engineering concepts, machine design, and stress and strain analysis calculations.
• Conform to all applicable design specifications and maintain detailed records.
• Detailing and designing systems, layouts, and repair procedures.
• Ability to collect data using micrometers, calipers, and measuring tape and data analysis.
• Coordinate with sales team to propose work.
• Coordinate and manage projects from start to finish.
• Direct and supervise subcontractors and technicians to complete projects.
• Planning and preparation of material orders and delivery.
• Maintain deadlines and budgets to the demands of the customer.
• Abide by safety policies of Simmers Crane Design & Services, the customer, and OSHA standards.
• Prepare documentation such as invoicing and project closeout.
• Act individually and in a group environment.
• React in a timely manner to solve problems in stressful situations.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Preferred knowledge of Creo or other parametric modeling software and FEA software (Finite Element Analysis).
• Strong technical knowledge and computer literate; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Candidate must be pro-active, punctual, and reliable.
• Critical thinking, decision making, and executing corrective actions are all requirements for the position.
• Must have the ability to work in an office environment as well as occasional field work.
