Reading Crane & Engineering, part of Flatiron Crane, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop and improve cranes, systems, and components. You will collaborate with customers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to deliver safe, cost-effective designs that meet standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of engineering design experience (internships/co-op acceptable).
• Proficiency with CAD software and engineering design tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for developing, designing, and improving products, equipment, systems, and structures. They work closely with customers, project managers, manufacturing teams, and other engineers to create practical, cost-effective, and safe designs that meet project requirements and industry standards.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of engineering design experience (entry-level positions may accept internships or co-op experience).
• Proficiency with CAD software and engineering design tools.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to visit manufacturing facilities, construction sites, or project locations as needed.
• Ability to sit, stand, and use computer equipment for extended periods.
