Job summary

EnerSys Delaware Inc. in Clayton, MO is seeking a Project Design Engineer to design, engineer, and cost critical power construction projects.

You will create designs for large, technically complex projects and support construction while guiding the sales and estimating teams in pricing. The role requires a BS in engineering, experience with critical power systems, and ability to work with HVAC, DC power, and generator systems; travel will be required and you will collaborate with engineers,

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering (electrical or mechanical preferred) or similar technical field from an accredited university.
• Experience in critical power including protected DC power and AC power systems.
• Basic understanding of cooling systems, control systems, AC switch gear, and generator systems.
• Experience in project management and operations culture.
• Understanding of financial statements, budgets and engineering economic calculations.
• Ability to create, document, and present design concepts to customers and operations.
• Experience working with professional engineers and architects.
• Familiarity with construction techniques and able to apply them to design solutions.

Responsibilities

• Quote and execute successful field projects within critical facilities environment including oversight and direction of design and estimation deliverables from team members.
• Work with Manager, PMO to establish, track and update team KPI’s.
• As the subject matter expert of critical facility infrastructure, coach team members, such as estimators, project managers, and sales, in technical matters.
• Develop and refine tools and processes to improve team efficiency and accuracy.
• Work closely with internal/external customers to determine requirements and make cost-effective and innovative recommendations.
• Generate, read, interpret, and explain RFQ’s, SOW’s, drawings to guide the creation of solutions, estimates, and other documents within a timely manner, while adhering to company guidelines.
• Working knowledge of Telcordia standards within the DC/Critical Facilities environment.
• Support the Sales team in the identification and qualification of new market opportunities.
• Communicate effectively with customers, technicians, and project coordinators.
• Create overall strategies and plans to execute projects.
• Manage change control and implement approved changes.
• Assist in the delivery of close-out documentation to clients in a timely manner.
• Prepare and review with team any post-mortems required.
• Review financials with Sales and Operations management.
