Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking a Project Accountant to provide comprehensive financial administration for Columbus-area projects. You will perform accounting, cost analysis, and fiscal management in line with company policies and contract terms, supporting project teams and leadership.

You will manage budgets, monitor cash flow, and assist with month-end close, BARs/CABs, and audits. The role requires collaboration with Operations and Shared Services, and may involve travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; minimum 3 years of related experience, with at least 1 year as project accountant
• Thorough application of GAAP and company policies
• Professional written and verbal communication; ability to tailor to different levels
• Ability to educate others to identify risks and reinforce compliance with company practices
• Analytic ability to review financial data, interpret trends, and recognize inconsistencies
• Knowledgeable of cash flow and ability to optimize profitability
• Independent judgment and discretion; ability to identify problems and take corrective action
• Ability to manage competing activities and meet short-cycle deadlines
• Innovative mindset to improve operations
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to operate with minimal direction
• Proficient with financial system applications (e.g., SAP, Textura) and MS Office, especially Excel
• Travel may be required

Responsibilities

• Provide financial analytical support and drive strategic outcomes for assigned projects, including complex contracts and joint ventures
• Partner with Operations to review budgets, reflect risk, and align with owner contracts and Turner policies
• Communicate and escalate project risks to senior leadership
• Monitor billing and accounts receivable; address or escalate issues
• Maintain financial internal controls for projects
• Coordinate with Operations and Turner Shared Services to support project launch, AP management, and month-end close
• Monitor project cash position and mitigate risks to profitability
• Oversee project assets and rental insurance documentation in collaboration with project team
• Prepare financial analyses and reports to validate project outcomes
• Audit and correlate data to produce BARs and CABs
• Analyze forecasts and re-forecasts for contract compliance
• Support project closeout and audit requests
• Attend ORMs and budgeting/forecasting sessions
• Mentor junior accounting staff on cost processes
• Other duties as assigned
