Job summary

Acme Lock & Door is seeking a Junior Project Manager to turn sold access control, door and hardware, and locksmithing work into well‑scheduled, well‑documented field execution. You will support handoffs from sales to the field, coordinate technician scheduling, and help keep materials moving so jobs stay on track.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in project coordination or related hands-on locksmithing roles, with strong organization and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in project management or project coordination, or hands-on technician work related to locksmithing/doors/Access control.
• Ability to read architectural drawings, specs, and hardware schedules.
• Strong organizational skills with multitasking in fast-paced service environments.
• Comfort with local driving and periodic job-site visits.
• Familiarity with project billing, job costing, or labor forecasting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handoff support: coordinate transition from sales/estimating to field, validating scope, schedule and cost.
• Schedule technicians and dispatch to align field work with project timelines.
• Track project costs, labor hours, and inventory; flag variances early.
• Maintain timely customer updates on project status with Installation Manager input.
• Assist with ordering and costing project materials and inventory.
• Maintain organized project documentation and suggest process improvements.
• Conduct periodic job-site visits to support execution and gain hands-on experience.

Position Overview

As the Junior Project Manager at Acme Lock & Door, you'll help turn sold access control, door and hardware, and locksmithing work into well‑scheduled, well‑documented, and profitable field execution. You'll support the handoff from sales to the field, coordinate technician scheduling, track project costs and margins, and help keep materials moving so jobs stay on track.

Key Responsibilities

• Project handoff support: Help coordinate the transition of sold projects from sales and estimating to the field, supporting scope, schedule, and cost validation.
• Technician scheduling: Coordinate with technicians and dispatch to align field schedules with project timelines and priorities.
• Cost and margin tracking: Track project costs, labor hours, and inventory usage; help flag budget or margin variances early.
• Customer communication: Support timely, accurate customer updates on project status, coordinating with the Installation Manager on larger issues.
• Material and inventory coordination: Assist with ordering, tracking, and accurately costing project materials and inventory.
• Documentation and process support: Maintain organized, accurate project documentation and contribute ideas for process improvement.
• Field exposure: Conduct periodic job‑site visits to support project execution and build hands‑on project experience.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in project management or project coordination, or hands‑on experience as a technician in commercial locksmithing, door and hardware, or electronic access control, with readiness to move into a project support role.
• Working knowledge of commercial doors, frames, locks, architectural hardware, keying systems, electrified hardware, and/or electronic access‑control systems.
• Exposure to project billing, job costing, or labor forecasting is a plus.
• Ability to read or learn to read architectural drawings, specifications, and hardware schedules.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities in a fast‑paced service environment.
• Comfortable with local driving and periodic job‑site visits.
• Proficiency with standard business, scheduling, and project‑documentation software.
• Relevant project‑management, door‑and‑hardware, locksmithing, or access‑control certifications are a plus, but not required.

Compensation And Timing

Compensation for this role is targeted at $65,000–$75,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
