Job summary

Creature, based in Birmingham, AL, seeks a Project Controls Lead to own the project controls cycle across billing, data, client reporting, and closeout. You will align Project Management and Accounting, standardize processes, and drive timely, accurate project financials.

The role emphasizes a system-first approach, accountability for dates, and collaboration with PMs, Operations, and Finance to deliver consistent client experience and robust cash flow.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in construction project controls, project accounting, or construction billing.
• Direct ownership of owner pay applications, subcontractor billing, and change order tracking.
• Strong proficiency in Procore, Sage 300 CRE, and Excel.
• Experience in a self-perform or design-build environment is a plus.
• Experience writing SOPs and training others.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly project controls calendar and on-time pay app submission.
• Drive cost capture before month-end and ensure data integrity.
• Maintain a single client experience with standard reports and cadence.
• Manage closeout as a rolling process with timely documentation.
• Design scalable systems and train teams to execute them.
