Job summary

HEPCO, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Controls Specialist to support budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and performance reporting.

You will work with program leadership, the PMO, and engineering teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and strong cost controls across all workstreams. The role emphasizes developing budgets, tracking actuals, preparing cost summaries, and generating executive dashboards.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering/finance/accounting or related field.
• Minimum five years in project controls, cost engineering, or financial analysis.
• Utilities/energy efficiency or infrastructure background preferred.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and data-management skills.
• Proficient with budgeting, forecasting, accruals, variance analysis, and cost reporting.
• Experience with SAP is preferred.
• Capable of independent work and leading program reporting.
• Ability to translate data into clear recommendations.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and report on program budgets, forecasts, and dashboards.
• Track costs vs forecasts, analyze variances, and suggest corrective actions.
• Prepare monthly spending plans, accruals, and cost summaries for client reporting.
• Support KPI tracking, performance metrics, and executive dashboards.
• Coordinate with program, PMO, and engineering teams to validate expenditures.
• Maintain project controls documentation and ensure consistency across workstreams.
• Identify and implement cost control and forecasting improvements.
• Support audit readiness with clear cost/workflow documentation.
• Translate financial/operational data into actionable insights for leadership.
