Job summary

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is seeking an Information Technology Associate (ITA) to work as a Project Analyst within the Multi-Agency Communications Systems Program. You will coordinate with PSC, Cal OES, and public safety agencies, plan and monitor small projects, and support Project Managers on complex initiatives.

The role emphasizes process execution, client coordination, and familiarity with Microsoft Office; hybrid in-office days may be required based

Qualifications

  • Experience reviewing documents, letters, memos, etc. for completion, grammar, punctuation, etc.
  • Experience working with and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Experience maintaining and/or tracking assignments, projects, or workload in spreadsheets or databases.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).

Responsibilities

  • Provide program management and client coordination to Public Safety Communications (PSC), Cal OES and the public safety agencies it serves.
  • Independently plan, implement, and monitor less complex projects; execute processes.
  • Assist Project Managers on the most complex public safety projects to support Cal OES’s service delivery.

About the Opportunity:

The Multi-Agency Communications Systems Program serves as an interface between Cal OES and the public safety agencies it supports for communications services. The Radio Communications Branch oversees service intake, project management, and the organizational processes that facilitate Cal OES’s service delivery. The Information Technology Associate (ITA) works as a “Project Analyst” and is responsible for providing program management and client coordination to Public Safety Communications (PSC), Cal OES and the public safety agencies it serves. The incumbent will independently plan, implement, and monitor less complex projects, execute processes, as well as assist Project Managers on the most complex public safety projects to support Cal OES’s service delivery.

Working Conditions:

Hybrid Telework: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.

The Public Safety Communications (PSC) Technical Services Branch provides a variety of services to PSC and the public safety agencies it serves. The Branch oversees the California Public Safety Microwave Network (CAPSNET), licensing of public safety radio spectrum with the FCC, and a host of ancillary services that support PSC’s service delivery.

In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
