Job summary

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and a solid understanding of US GAAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of accounting experience in project accounting, cost accounting, inventory accounting, or general ledger accounting.
• Understanding of accrual accounting principles, journal entries, reconciliations, and U.S. GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project and operational teams to review project status, incurred costs, estimated completion costs, margins, milestones, and scope changes.
• Maintain percentage-of-completion (POC) and related revenue recognition schedules in accordance with ASC 606.
• Analyze project performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying cost variances, margin fluctuations, and potential risks.
• Prepare project-related journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with project closeouts by reviewing final costs, billing activity, commitments, and required financial adjustments.
• Support the development and maintenance of inventory and cost accounting controls, including inventory tracking, valuation, reconciliations, and physical count procedures.
• Reconcile inventory, work-in-process, and project-cost information across financial and operational systems.
• Prepare manufacturing cost analyses and variance reporting, including labor, material, overhead, and purchasing variances.
• Partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve inventory accuracy and project cost capture.
• Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and follow-up on inventory discrepancies.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, including inventory, contract balances, and intercompany accounts.
• Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies with internal stakeholders.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, audits, and ongoing accounting improvements.
• Maintain documentation of procedures, controls, and accounting processes.
• Participate in system enhancements, reporting improvements, data maintenance, and ERP implementation initiatives.
• Perform ad hoc financial analyses and special projects as needed.
