Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Project Accountant to support full-cycle cost management for major construction projects in Sandusky, OH. You will oversee change orders, engage with client finance teams, and produce cost reports and risk assessments for stakeholders.

The role requires a background in construction accounting, strong analytical skills, and experience with Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud. This is a contract-to-hire onsite opportunity based in Sandusky.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of project accounting or finance experience in construction.
• Minimum 1–3+ years in project management, cost management, or accounting in commercial construction.
• Thorough understanding of construction accounting principles and practices.
• Experience managing the change order lifecycle (create, review, process, track).
• Proficiency with Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Support full-cycle cost management for major construction projects and maintain cost controls.
• Manage subcontractor change management and ensure timely responses and complete documentation.
• Process change orders in the system of record with timeliness and accuracy.
• Prepare and present monthly cost reports and risk assessments for stakeholders.
• Contribute financial insights and commentary for monthly meetings and presentations.
• Review contracts to advise on entitlements related to change orders and claims.
• Coordinate with client finance teams for accurate reporting and controls.
• Analyze labor markets, union considerations, commodities, and tax impacts for cost strategies.
• Investigate and resolve invoice and change order discrepancies.
• Provide audit-focused finance support including reconciliation and data entry.
• Align transactional activities with project risk assessment and forecasting.
