Aston Carter seeks a Project Accountant for a long-term, contract-to-hire role based in Covington, GA. You will support full-cycle cost management for construction projects, establish and maintain robust cost controls, and process change orders.

You will provide audit and transactional finance support, prepare monthly cost reports and risk assessments for internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to meetings with data-driven insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field.
• 1+ year project accounting or finance experience in construction.
• 1–3+ years in project management, cost management, or accounting in commercial construction.
• Knowledge of construction accounting principles and change order lifecycle.
• Hands-on with change orders from initiation to closeout.
• Experience with Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Support full-cycle cost management for construction projects.
• Facilitate subcontractor change management system submissions and reviews.
• Process change orders accurately and timely in the system of record.
• Provide audit and transactional finance support for project sites.
• Prepare and present monthly cost reports and risk assessments to stakeholders.
• Contribute to monthly meetings with data-driven insights and commentary.
• Review contracts to recommend entitlements related to change orders and claims.
• Coordinate with client finance teams for compliant financial reporting.
• Analyze local labor markets, costs, and tax impacts to inform budgets.
