Job summary

Staffmark seeks a detail oriented Project Accountant to support our commercial construction team in Lafayette, LA. You will manage project budgets, track costs, and prepare monthly cost reports, ensuring timely financial reporting and GAAP compliance.

The role requires 3+ years in accounting (construction preferred), strong Excel skills, and experience with job cost accounting and AIA billing. On-site collaboration with project teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or engineering
• Experience in construction related software preferred ( Sage, Procore, Foundations, Viewpoint)
• Strong understanding of job cost accounting, WIP schedules and AIA billing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports
• Track project costs and prepare monthly job cost reports
• Review and process subcontractor invoices, change orders and progress billings
• Ensure compliance with contract terms and client requirements
• Collaborate with project managers to prepare budget revisions and cost to complete estimates
• Maintain documentation for audits and ensure proper financial controls are in place
• Prepare and analyze financial statements specific to projects
• Assist with project setup in accounting system, including budgets, billing terms and codes
• Manage Accounts Receivable and follow up on outstanding Project payments
• Support monthly close process and provide variance analysis
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, GAAP and industry regulations
