Job summary

UpRecruit is seeking an experienced Project Accountant in the Phoenix metropolitan area to support an expanding accounting team. The role focuses on managing work-in-progress, tracking project costs and profitability, and partnering with project managers to keep projects financially on track.

The ideal candidate has hands-on construction accounting experience, strong WIP expertise, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• Experience in construction or project-based accounting.
• Strong understanding of work-in-progress accounting.
• Experience with job costing and project financial reporting; strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to collaborate across departments.
• Onsite work in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze work-in-progress schedules.
• Track project costs, billings, revenue, and profitability.
• Review job-cost activity and research financial variances.
• Partner with project and operational teams to maintain accurate financial information.
• Support monthly close, reconciliations, and management reporting.
• Review project-related invoices and supporting documentation.
• Identify potential billing, cost, and reporting issues.
• Maintain accurate accounting records for assigned projects.
• Assist with process improvements and accounting-system initiatives.
• Support audits and special projects as needed.
