Job summary

Dexian in Dallas seeks an experienced Manager, Project Accounting to lead project accounting operations for large-scale capital projects. You will manage a team and partner with Finance, FP&A, Project Management, Operations and Procurement to ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

The role requires a Bachelor's in a related field, five years of project accounting experience, strong Excel and Workday ERP knowledge, and CPA

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance/construction management or related field.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Minimum five years of project or construction accounting experience supporting capital or construction projects.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting construction, hospitality, retail, entertainment, manufacturing, or other project-based environments.
  • Experience reviewing contracts, payment applications, cost coding, and project invoicing.
  • Strong understanding of capital projects and project lifecycle accounting.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Workday or similar financial systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze large data sets and develop meaningful financial reports.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information to leadership.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across Finance, Operations, Project Management, and external vendors.
  • Experience with project management or cost management software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Project Accountants, providing guidance and oversight for project financial activities.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial performance reporting.
  • Partner with FP&A to ensure capital expenditures, project labor, and operating costs are accurately recorded and reported.
  • Review project forecasts and identify financial risks while recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, procurement, and operations to support budgeting, scheduling, and project execution.
  • Monitor project performance to ensure budgets, timelines, and financial objectives are achieved.
  • Develop and maintain recurring project status reports for executive leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Oversee project expense tracking and financial reporting throughout project development and completion.
  • Support budgeting and cost estimating for future projects.
  • Maintain cost databases and historical project data to improve future estimating accuracy.
  • Review weekly and monthly project cost reports, labor tracking, and resource planning.
  • Manage project invoices, payment applications, contract compliance, cost coding, and capital versus expense classifications.
  • Review contractor payment applications, schedules of values, lien waivers, and supporting documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project accounting processes, reporting, and financial controls.
