ORR Protection is seeking a Project Accountant to serve as a key financial partner for the Accounting and Projects teams in Louisville, KY. The role focuses on project billing, cost tracking, and financial reporting to monitor project performance and ensure accurate billing.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in accounting or project billing, with experience in cost analysis, contracts, and SOVs. Construction exposure and familiarity with ERP tools are a plus. Hybrid work options may be available.

Qualifications

SUMMARY

The Project Accountant serves as a key financial partner to the Accounting and Projects teams, reporting directly to the Credit & Billing Manager. This role supports the financial management of new construction projects, with primary responsibility for project billing, cost and budget tracking, collections, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will work closely with project teams to monitor project financial performance, ensure accurate and timely billing, identify and resolve financial discrepancies, and provide visibility into the overall financial health of individual projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Billing & Accounting

• Coordinate the accurate and timely execution of project and installation billing in partnership with Project Administrators.
• Review project bookings for accuracy and completeness prior to approval.
• Monitor project costs and identify potential budget overages, billing discrepancies, or other financial concerns.
• Review projects for financial closeout and ensure outstanding items are resolved.
• Assist with new customer setup documentation and specific billing requirements.

Contract & Subcontractor Management

• Review project contracts for billing requirements, payment terms, and schedules of values (SOVs).
• Identify and address missing or unclear payment terms.
• Review subcontractor invoices to ensure project billing is sufficient to support timely payment.
• Monitor lien requirements and processes in coordination with NCS.

Financial Reporting & Collaboration

• Partner with Project Managers, Project Administrators, and Accounting to identify potential issues and provide accurate financial reporting.
• Monitor the financial health of projects and identify potential billing, cost, or collection concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent,required.
• 2+ years of experience in accounting, project billing, accounts receivable, or a related financial role, required.
• Experience with billing, cost tracking, and financial reporting, required.
• Experience in construction, contracting, or a project-based environment, preferred.
• Experience with construction billing, contracts, schedules of values (SOVs), and subcontractor payments, preferred.
• Experience with Odoo, Salesforce, and/or Procore is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Strong understanding of accounting, billing, and project financial principles.
• Ability to read, interpret, and understand contracts and billing requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with company leadership, regional teams, customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Collaborative, team-oriented approach with the ability to build positive working relationships across departments.
• Ability to become a Notary Public

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This position works primarily in an office environment, with the potential to transition to remote work.
• Requires extended periods of sitting and computer use, with occasional standing, walking, and light lifting.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
