Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver comprehensive patient care using the nursing process, collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team, and coordinate patient teaching. The role emphasizes safety, evidence-based actions, and adaptation to changing patient conditions.

Responsibilities include conducting assessments, planning and implementing care, administering medications, and serving as a patient advocate across hospital departments with a focus on quality

Qualifications

• Current RN license in state they are working or compact (required).
• BLS or ACLS (preferred at hire; ACLS within 6 months).
• CCRN, PCCN, NIH Stroke Certification (preferred).
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
• 1 year RN experience (required).

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes data, plans care, implements treatment and evaluates outcomes.
• Administers medications safely per policies and procedures.
• Coordinates patient care across hospital departments and serves as care coordination point.
• Participates in quality improvement to enhance patient safety and outcomes.
• Advocates for patients and families, collaborating with spiritual/palliative/ethics teams.
• Remains calm and adaptive during emergencies and uses clinical judgement to guide actions.
• Uses AACN Synergy Model to restore and support physiologic and psychosocial stability.
