The City of Rancho Cucamonga is seeking a Programming and Events Supervisor to lead community arts initiatives. This role involves curating diverse events, managing rentals, and fostering relationships within the community. As theProgramming & Events Supervisor,you’llhave the exciting opportunity to shape and oversee innovative programming in ournewly activated outdoor courtyard space—developing year-round performances that drive community connection, expand our audience, and bring energy to ourspaces.You’llalsocollaborate closely on season programmingand artist engagement alongside the Entertainment Superintendent.
In addition,you’lllead the Rentals Teamresponsible for overseeing all event bookings—from weddings,galas, and community functionsin our event hall to performance rentals in theLewis FamilyPlayhouse, Black BoxTheatre, and new Courtyard stage. This includes evaluating rental alignment with our artisticand financial goals, ensuringtop-tier guest experience, andmaintaininga well-balanced, strategically scheduled calendar.

The Lewis Family Playhouse is an intimate,state-of-the-artperforming arts center with 560 seats owned andoperatedby the City of Rancho Cucamonga. As a major anchor to the Victoria Gardens Lifestyle Shopping Center, the Lewis Family Playhouse educates, entertains, and ignites the imagination through high-qualityperformancesfor children, families, and audiences of all ages throughout Southern California. In addition to the Lewis Family Playhouse, the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center includes a 60-seat Black BoxTheatre, large-scale event spaces, and an outdoor courtyard stage opening in 2025!

YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Courtyard Programming & Community Events
Curate and implement regular outdoor performances and community-focused events that activate the courtyard space and draw abroadaudience.
Source and contract local and regional talent for free or low-cost entertainment options.
Use your creative voice to bringnew ideasand energy to our year-round calendar.
Season Programming Support
Assist the Entertainment Superintendent with curation andlogisticsfor our Playhouse season.
Support artist outreach, deal negotiation, contracts, and production coordination.
Provide artistic input that helps ensure our programming is balanced, strategic, and bold.
Help manage relationships with visiting productionsand local producing partnersand ensure alignment with community and financial goals.
Coordinate with the production and hospitality teams to ensure rider needs, technical requirements, and artist services arefeasible, within budget, and executed tohigh standards.
Attend production meetings, rehearsals, and performances when needed to support quality and consistency across events.
Rentals Oversight & Events Management
Supervise the Rentals Team,overseeing all performance and non-performance bookings.
Ensure rental schedules are balanced with programming priorities and venuecapacity.
Provide artistic and operational guidance on how performance rentals align with the overall season.
Lead your team in achieving rental goals while delivering a premierclient experience.
Engage with local groups and clients to increase community and commercial rental bookings.
Collaboration & Communication
Coordinate with Box Office, Marketing, Production,Finance, Front of House,and other departments to ensure rental and event success.
Participate in planning meetings, site walkthroughs, and client consultations as needed.
Represent the Playhouse at local arts events,showcases,conferences,and networking opportunities.
The Ideal Candidate Has:
A background in arts programming, event management,and/or venue operations.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage complex calendars and overlapping timelines.
Knowledge of artist contracts, performance riders, and rental agreements.
Familiarity with artistic genresfrom theater and music to festivals and communityshowcases.
A creative spark for designing unique, accessible, and impactful arts experiences.
A people-first mindset when working with artists, clients, and community groups.
Excellent communication skills and a proactive, collaborative leadership style.
The flexibility to work evenings and weekends, attending performances, rehearsals, and events.
