The Opportunity

In collaboration with the Murrow Business Office, the Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of the Murrow Equipment Room, including management of the unit budget, equipment services, inventory control, asset management, space utilization, facilities coordination, building access, and student staff supervision. The position serves as the college’s Facilities Coordinator Liaison, Building Coordinator, Inventory Specialist, and Key Manager, working closely with faculty, staff, students, Facilities Services, Information Technology, Northwest Public Broadcasting (NWPB), and other campus partners. The Manager facilitates the use of video and audio equipment; troubleshoots and resolves technology issues; develops and implements equipment-related policies, procedures, and specifications; provides equipment training and guidance; and assists with equipment purchasing and lifecycle planning. The position oversees all college and NWPB inventory, including receiving, tagging, tracking, annual inventory and space audits, inventory reporting, equipment maintenance, and fee administration for lost, stolen, or damaged equipment and keys. As the college’s Facilities Coordinator Liaison, the Manager attends University Facilities Liaison meetings and coordinates facilities, maintenance, renovation, space planning, safety, security, and access-related activities for Murrow Hall, Goertzen Hall, and Jackson Hall. The position administers key and card access, serves as the primary point of contact for building operations, and works to ensure safe and efficient facility operations. The Manager recruits, trains, schedules, and supervises student employees; analyzes operational needs and resource utilization; collaborates to perform Business Office duties; improves processes and procedures; resolves operational issues; and ensures compliance with university policies, state regulations, and safety requirements. The position also serves as Chair of the Murrow College Safety Committee, coordinating inspections and safety initiatives with the WSU Fire and Safety Compliance Officer.

Additional Information

This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $3,827.00 to 5,111.00 | Range 42 (Steps A-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing inventory within the WSU inventory system (Workday) preferred.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience supervising student hourly employees.
  • Experience working with audio/video equipment.
