Job summary

Sd308 is seeking a qualified school nurse to provide direct health services to students across district programs. The role includes medication administration, first aid, and emergency response, with careful health records management and adherence to IDPH rules.

You will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and health staff to support student well-being, including gastrostomy/tracheostomy care when needed, while maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct in a busy school setting.

Qualifications

• RN or BSN with Illinois license in good standing.
• Knowledge of ANA Code of Ethics and Illinois Nurse Practice Act.
• Current CPR/AED certification.
• Knowledge of Bloodborne Pathogen Policy and Procedures.
• Ability to perform multiple, technical tasks with continuing skill upgrades to meet changing conditions.
• Flexible hours to meet various school hours and buildings.
• Competencies include adapting to priorities, teamwork, confidentiality, and service orientation.
• Experience with gastrostomy-tube feedings, tracheostomy care, seizure care, and med administration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct professional nursing services including medication administration, first aid, and emergency response.
• Maintain accident/incident reports and electronic log of student health events.
• Follow IDPH rules for immunizations, exams, and health records; ensure documentation.
• Administer daily and PRN medications per district guidelines and educate students on proper use.
• Prepare confidential health concern lists and share with appropriate staff as needed.
• Contact parents for absences and coordinate with attendance staff.
• Coordinate health screenings (vision/hearing) and follow up as required.
• Act as Health Services team member, presenting health history and coordinating care.
