Job summary

Qualifications

• RN or BSN with current Illinois license in good standing.
• Knowledge of ethical and legal expectations (ANA Code of Ethics; Illinois Nurse Practice Act).
• Current CPR/AED certification.
• Knowledge of Bloodborne Pathogen Policy and Procedures.
• Ability to perform multiple technical tasks and upgrade skills as needed.
• Flexible hours to meet varied school hours in multiple buildings.
• Experience with gastrostomy-tube feedings, tracheostomy care, seizure care, and medication administration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct professional nursing services, including medication administration and first aid per district policies and state/local mandates.
• Take and record temperatures; monitor and comfort sick or injured students until guardians arrive.
• Complete accident/incident reports and maintain a daily electronic log of student health events.
• Follow IDPH rules on communicable diseases; communicate with staff, parents, and administration as needed.
• Maintain student health records and immunization compliance; manage physicals and exams as required.
• Educate students on medication use and serve as a health resource for staff.
• Coordinate health screenings, referrals, and follow-ups; collaborate with PPST and district health services team.
• Assist with planning health-related programs and ensure a clean, organized health office.
