Job summary

Mid-Willamette Valley Community Action Agency seeks a Youth Assessment Specialist to ensure shelter operations run smoothly, manage grant compliance, and maintain data reporting. You will collaborate with community agencies and supervise staff and volunteers to support vulnerable youth and families.

The role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to de-escalate difficult interactions while maintaining trauma-informed practices and partnership-building.

Qualifications

  • Possess intermediate to advanced computer skills and proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook, databases, online tools and video conferences.
  • Ability to read, analyze and articulate technical procedures, contracts, and regulations.
  • Excellent planning, organization and time management.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, early mornings.
  • Empathy, tact and diplomacy in communication with clients and partners.
  • Ability to de-escalate heightened interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Manages day-to-day operations of sheltering services.
  • Provides staff support when client interactions escalate.
  • Maintains relationships with law enforcement, neighbors and city officials.
  • Builds and trains volunteers; grows volunteer base.
  • Participates in meetings, trainings and compliance events.
  • Pursues shelter funding and basic needs service funding to expand opportunities.
  • Ensures program policies protect staff, clients and volunteers.
  • Keeps HMIS and data-driven protocols high quality.
  • Aligns with Trauma-Informed Care and Harm Reduction philosophies.
  • Recruits, trains, mentors, and coordinates program staff.

Education

Two or more years of social services experience
1 year in managing/coordinating in social services
Equivalent combination of education & experience accepted
