Job summary

Northwest Human Services in Salem, OR is seeking a Youth Development Specialist for our HOST Program. This part-time role supports at-risk and unsheltered young adults ages 18–24, with 20 hours per week across Friday to Sunday, 8am–4pm.

You will provide direct care and supervision in the overnight shelter, offer emotional and crisis support, coordinate referrals to services, and assist with light cleaning and documentation to help clients achieve their goals in a safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in psychology, sociology, human development, education, criminal justice, or a related field.
• Minimum one year experience working with youth/young adult population.
• Experience with at-risk youth/young adults preferred.
• Education qualification exceptions may be granted if experience requirements have been met.
• Oregon Driver's License and proof of auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision of youth staying in the overnight shelter.
• Stay alert to safety and security matters during shifts.
• Interact with youth in the morning hours and provide emotional/crisis support.
• Perform light cleaning and upkeep of the facility.
• Complete service documentation and compliance monitoring tasks.
