Job summary

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks a Deputy Operations Project Manager to supervise a system of multipurpose water resources development projects with hydropower assets.

The role acts as the empowered deputy, with authority to stand in for the Operations Project Manager at all times. You will serve as the primary advisor in all managerial phases of the project's work, directing daily operations, evaluating complex engineering and maintenance activities, and overseeing Environmental Health

About the Position:

Performs supervisory duties as Deputy Operations Project Manager of a system of multipurpose water resources development projects with hydropower assets. Serves as the fully empowered deputy with authority to act in on behalf of the Operations Project Manager at all times. Serves as primary advisor in all managerial phases of the Project’s work.

Specialized Experience:
  • 1) Managing and directing the daily operations, maintenance, and administrative functions of complex multipurpose water resources and hydropower projects;

  • 3) Managing program risks and safety policies, to include direct oversight of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement:

Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
