Job summary

PATH Recreation & Fitness Center in Culpeper, VA seeks a Program Instructor to develop and lead recreational and educational programs. You’ll inspire participants, introduce new activities, and help build confidence while ensuring a welcoming environment.

You’ll promote healthy lifestyles, engage with diverse groups, and manage registrations, records, and program details alongside a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Experience facilitating group activities is a plus.
• CPR/AED certification may be required or obtainable within 90 days of hire.

Do you enjoy working with people, leading activities, and bringing energy and creativity to a program? We’re looking for an enthusiasticProgram Instructor to help develop and lead recreational and educational programs at PATH Recreation & Fitness Center.

Whether it’s introducing participants to a new activity, helping them build confidence and skills, or simply creating a place where they feel welcome and engaged, you’ll play an important role in making our programs successful.

What You’ll Do

• Plan and lead fun, engaging, and age-appropriate recreational and educational activities
• Create programming that supports participants’ social, emotional, and physical well-being
• Actively engage with participants and help create a positive, inclusive environment
• Facilitate and supervise group activities while keeping safety and fun at the forefront
• Assist with program registration, attendance, participant records, and other program details
• Build positive relationships with participants, members, guests, and families
• Answer questions and provide friendly, timely follow-up
• Stay knowledgeable about classes, programs, activities, and special events happening at the center
• Help keep courts, fitness spaces, equipment, and program areas clean, organized, and ready for use
• Work collaboratively with other team members to support programs and special events
• Perform other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

You don’t have to know everything on day one! We’re looking for someone who is dependable, engaging, organized, and comfortable taking the lead with groups.

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently
• Ability to facilitate and supervise group activities
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
• Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire

Preferred:

• At least one year of experience in recreation, fitness, education, youth programming, sports, or a related setting

Compensation:

This position is paid on a commission basis, with earnings tied to the programs/classes instructed and participation. Additional details regarding the commission structure will be discussed during the interview process.
