Responsibilities

  • Manage tracking and distribution of student-athlete awards and aid during the academic year.
  • Monitor student-athlete awards and benefits.
  • Prepare paperwork regarding student-athletes’ amateur status.
  • Develop and implement athletics compliance policies and procedures.
  • Research NCAA rules and provide interpretations to coaches and staff.
  • Coordinate with the conference office and NCAA for rule interpretations as needed.
  • Prepare reports for departmental senior administration review.
  • Uphold integrity of NCAA, conference, and department values.

Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a professional position responsible for directing a service-oriented and comprehensive compliance program to ensure that all athletics programs and institutional support areas and activities comply with NCAA, conference, and university regulations. Responsible for interpretation and implementation of NCAA rules and regulations, monitoring, reporting, and general support of the compliance efforts of all student-athletes, coaches, staff, and external constituents. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Director of Athletics.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in sports management, athletics administration, physical education, recreation, education, or a related field is required. Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

Two years of related experience is required. Experience with NCAA intercollegiate athletics is required. Experience with NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics is preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Works cooperatively with departmental staff, coaches, student-athletes, and other constituents to provide oversight of day-to-day compliance responsibilities.
  2. Oversees processes, procedures, and systems necessary for department to comply with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations for varsity sports programs.
  3. Manages system for tracking and distribution of student-athlete, post-eligibility, and auxiliary student athletics aid awards during academic year.
  4. Monitors student-athlete awards and benefits.
  5. Prepares and executes paperwork as needed in regards to student-athletes’ amateur status.
  6. Ensures adherence to permissible activities under NCAA regulations among athletic staff.
  7. Monitors institutional recruiting systems, including but not limited to phone logs and contact evaluation forms.
  8. Serves as primary liaison for institutional name/image/likeness program to ensure adherence to NCAA regulations and state laws.
  9. Develops and implements athletics compliance policies and procedures.
  10. Researches NCAA rules and provides coaches and staff with interpretations.
  11. Works with conference office and NCAA to obtain official rules interpretations as needed.
  12. Prepares various reports for departmental senior administration review.
  13. Works to uphold integrity of NCAA, conference and department’s vision and core values.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. May provide supervision to interns and/or student workers.

  10. Ability to acquire and maintain knowledge of university curriculum and degree requirements and to interpret them in the context of individual student needs.
  11. Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
  12. Ability to learn office and university-specific software.
  13. Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
