Job description

This position is located in the Titles and Registrations, License Plate Unit, Headquarters, Blythewood, S.C.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Office Supervisor II

    Processes transactions to include, but not limited to, the issuance of registration cards, licenses plates, titles, decals and handicapped placards.
    Responds to routine inquiries from customers by mail and through other modes of communication such as, in person, telephone, email, or fax.
    Advises customers on appropriate actions for payment, services and required documentation for transaction processing. Resolves customers problems and inquiries through record research.
    Manages business customers (banks, lienholders, insurance companies, dealers, etc.) needs such as insurance issues, dissemination of information, dissemination of DMV products and problem resolution. Serves as support function for DMV Field Offices.
    Uses DMV Phoenix system to enter, retrieve, update and provide data for customers, courts and law enforcement.
    Maintains appropriate tracking system for customer inquiries. Reconciles transaction reports and maintains accurate cash drawer.
    Reviews documents for accuracy and compliance. Prepares documents for scanning.
    Performs other related duties as required.


Minimum Requirements

  • A high school diploma and relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted with prior approval.

Agency Requirements

  • Must complete a nationwide criminal background check to include finger printing.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to learn and explain policy and procedures to DMV customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills.
  • Works under general supervision after a period of training.
  • Works in general office environment.
  • May be required to work extended hours outside of the normal scheduled work week.
  • Must be able to lift 10-15 lbs.
  • The work requires sitting for long prolonged periods of time and significant time spent at a computer terminal.

Agency Preferred

  • A high school diploma and two (2) years related job experience.
