Program Coordinator I - South Carolina Guardian ad Litem Program

Are you an experienced professional seeking new opportunities to advance your career? The South Carolina Department of Children's Advocacy is looking for a dependable candidate for the position of Program Coordinator I. This role offers excellent benefits, including at least 15 days of annual and sick leave per year, depending on state service.

Position Overview:

Under limited supervision, the Program Coordinator I provides support, guidance, and programmatic supervision to volunteers advocating in Family Court through the South Carolina Guardian ad Litem Program. Responsibilities include supporting office functions, recruiting and training volunteers, inputting program data, assigning volunteers to cases, and assisting with court preparation and case management. The role may also involve performing direct child advocacy as a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem when volunteer capacity is insufficient.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assign volunteers to child abuse/neglect cases and support their compliance with laws, policies, and best practices.
  2. Maintain accurate case information in the database and coordinate receipt of monitoring reports.
  3. Assist in training and recruiting a diverse pool of volunteers.
  4. Perform administrative functions to support program goals.
  5. Provide direct child advocacy as needed.
  6. Complete special assignments as directed by the County Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize effectively.
  • Experience in training and supervising volunteers.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and data entry.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

Additional requirements include exercising judgment regarding confidential information, establishing effective working relationships, and interpreting laws and policies.
