Job Responsibilities

Program Coordinator I

Under limited supervision, provides support, guidance, and programmatic supervision to volunteers assigned to advocate in Family Court through the South Carolina Guardian ad Litem Program. The Program Coordinator I supports office functions necessary for effective volunteer advocacy, assists with recruiting and training new volunteers, inputs program information into the database, assigns volunteers to child abuse/neglect cases, and provides case management and court preparation assistance. The role also involves planning and facilitating volunteer continuing education and performing direct child advocacy as a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem when needed.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Assigns volunteers to cases, supports their compliance with laws and policies, and attends hearings as required.
  • Maintains accurate case data, coordinates reports, and inputs data into the database.
  • Assists in training and recruiting volunteers, ensuring a diverse pool for case assignments.
  • Performs administrative functions to support program goals.
  • Performs direct child advocacy as needed.
  • Completes special assignments from the County Director.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent, with the possibility of considering experience in lieu of education. Ability to exercise judgment on confidential information, communicate effectively, establish relationships, perform multiple tasks, train and supervise volunteers, and interpret laws and policies. Knowledge of computer applications and data entry is required. A bachelor's degree is preferred.
