Program Coordinator I / Assistant Branch Supervisor II - 176350

This position is located at the Aiken Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Branch Office in Aiken, SC.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Branch Supervisor II
  1. Serves as manager-in-training to provide frontline leadership and ensure customer inquiries are handled professionally and promptly, in accordance with goals and processes. Includes directing, planning, and coordinating daily office operations.
  2. Supervises personnel matters such as hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and monitors career programs to meet requirements. Provides counseling and reprimands employees as necessary.
  3. Reconciles daily activity reports, including bank details and timesheets; approves refund requests. Manages secured audited documents, petty cash, and accountable monies. Ensures building security. Assists in preparing bank deposits and routine maintenance of equipment.
  4. Assists the public by administering knowledge tests (including CDL), processing driver and vehicle transactions, and responding to inquiries via in-person, email, or phone.
  5. Maintains inventory of supplies, prepares requisitions, and inventories accountable items monthly, quarterly, and yearly. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • A high school diploma and relevant program experience, or an equivalent combination approved beforehand.
  • Must complete a nationwide criminal background check, including fingerprints, before certification to administer CDL knowledge and skills tests. Certification in all CDL classifications and completion of a formal CDL examiner course are required.
Additional Requirements
  • Knowledge of DMV laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to learn and explain vehicle and driver policies. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Phoenix. Capable of performing management duties as outlined by the Branch Office Manager.
  • The role reports to the Branch Manager and involves assisting with daily front counter operations after training. Must make decisions in the best interest of the agency to provide excellent customer service.
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office setting. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Tasks include prolonged sitting, computer use, and movement as needed to serve customers.
  • Limited overtime may be required to meet deadlines or serve customers.

The person may be required to relocate within 30 miles of their current office if necessary.
