The Opportunity

Washington State University's Office of Admissions is now accepting applications for a Program Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional seeking experience in enrollment management, higher education administration, and student services! As a Program Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the Office of Admissions through a combination of application review, records management, student communication, and administrative support. Under general supervision, you will review and process undergraduate applications for admission and exercise independent judgment in supporting admissions decisions. As a vital behind-the-scenes contributor, you will manage confidential information, maintain student records, and assist with clerical and operational projects that ensure efficient admissions processes. Through this work, you will directly contribute to student success and the university's enrollment objectives. Upon successful completion of the employee’s 6-month probationary period and training, this position may be eligible for a hybrid telework agreement. All telework agreements are assessed and extended on a semester basis.

Salary

Monthly Salary: $3,565 to $4,746 | Range 39 (Step A-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications
  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of full-time clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Demonstrated computer software skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office programs, such as: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the admissions process.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook.
  • Experience with WSU Student Information System.
  • Experience with Slate CRM.
  • Experience working with student records.
Background Check

This position has been designated by the department to require a background check because it requires access to children or vulnerable adults as defined by RCW 74.34, engages in law enforcement, requires security clearance, interacts with WSU students in a counseling or advising capacity, has access to personal identifying and/or financial information, unsupervised access to university buildings/property, or other business-related need. A background check will not be completed until an initial determination of qualification for employment has been made.
