Position Details

Washington State University's Finance and Business Services Department is now accepting applications for an Office Assistant 3 to support Payroll Services. Under general supervision, your primary functions in the Office Assistant 3 role are to complete complex clerical tasks in support of Payroll Services such as preparing, reviewing, verifying and processing payroll documents under tight deadlines to help process a semi-monthly payroll. As the Office Assistant 3, you will also accurately and efficiently process and prepare payroll documents including but not limited to employment security and tax documentation. Additionally, you will process and complete employment verification information for customers. You will need strong communication skills and close attention to detail are required to request information or help resolve discrepancies. You will have frequent contact with clients, the public, and University staff, faculty and students, maintaining and ensuring a confidential environment at all times.


Additional Information


  • This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position.

  • This position is overtime eligible.

  • This is an on-site/in-person role located on the WSU Campus in Pullman, WA.

  • Monthly Salary: $3,485 to $4,633 | Range 38 | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications


  • High School graduation or equivalent and two years of clerical experience; OR equivalent education/experience.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with Workday.

  • Experience with the WSU systems (myWSU)

  • Possess good computer skills, specifically working in a Microsoft Windows environment with an emphasis on Word and Excel.

  • Experience in higher education.

  • Ability to pay attention to detail and work accurately with numbers

  • Strong communication skills
