Job summary

ANSEP (Alaska Native Science & Engineering Program) invites applications for a Program Assistant at the Nome campus. This temporary 9-month, full-time role supports the Acceleration Academy, supervising students, providing academic assistance, coordinating logistics, and maintaining a safe, engaging learning environment.

The ideal candidate will have some college coursework in STEM or education, be able to lift 25–50 lbs, drive an ANSEP vehicle, and communicate clearly while upholding

Qualifications

• Some college coursework in a STEM or education field and one to two years progressively responsible experience related to school aged children, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Teaching certification preferred.
• Current CPR with AED/First Aid certification preferred.
• Position requires driving an ANSEP vehicle. Applicant must be 21 and older to apply and have a valid AK driver’s license with three years of driving record.
• Must be able to lift or move 25 to 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Experience working with rural and/or Indigenous Alaska populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct student supervision and academic support in a structured setting.
• Logistical coordination and ensuring a safe, engaging learning environment.
• Tracking student attendance and preparing activity supplies.
• Maintaining professional boundaries and clear communication with students.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends; potential dormitory stays to support statewide events.
• Drive a 15-passenger van when needed to transport students safely.
