Job summary

Ohio Department of Public Safety – Bureau of Motor Vehicles IRP is hiring a Program Administrator 1 in Columbus. The role directs the program by handling non-routine duties, answers complex inquiries about the Federal CMV Program, and serves as a liaison between staff and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in business administration, management science or public administration.
  • Undergraduate core program in business administration or related field.
  • Undergraduate core program aligned to the assigned program area.

Responsibilities

  • Relieve supervisor of non-routine admin duties for the Federal CMV Compliance Program.
  • Answer complex inquiries and provide program/policy information to stakeholders and the public.
  • Interprets laws to ensure compliance and communicates policy updates to stakeholders.

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.


This position is currently remote (work from home) but can be subject to change to regular, in-office work***

What You'll Do As a Program Administrator 1

  • Within the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, International Registration Plan (IRP) section, provides program direction by relieving supervisor of non-routine administrative duties related to the Federal Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Compliance Program:
  • Acts for administrator by independently answering complex &/or confidential inquiries pertaining to the Federal CMV Compliance Program; Provides program &/or policy information to stakeholders, government officials &/or general public;
  • Serves as liaison between administrator, BMV staff &/or stakeholders; Transmits decisions & directives regarding program rules & operating procedures; Responds to any programmatic issues or needs;
  • Formulates & implements program policies, operational procedures, & best practices; Interprets federal, state & local laws to ensure compliance; Communicates policy updates to all stakeholders;
  • Ensures the State of Ohio's compliance with federal program requirements by analyzing & interpreting applicable rules, identifying IRP registrants & applications that are not in compliance, & taking appropriate registration status actions in a timely manner.

Option 1

36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in business administration, management science or public administration. If assigned to operate vehicles regulated by Section 4506.01 of Revised Code, applicants must also have valid commercial driver's license.


Option 2

  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management science or public administration;

AND 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position which involved limited research & public contact. If assigned to operate vehicles regulated by Section 4506.01 of Revised Code, applicants must also have valid commercial driver's license.


Option 3

  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in academic field commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on file;

AND 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative, managerial &/or staff position which involved limited research & public contact. If assigned to operate vehicles regulated by Section 4506.01 of Revised Code, applicants must also have valid commercial driver's license.


Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
